Football, Volleyball, and Cheer

The Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) board of directors voted Tuesday, August 4 to move football and volleyball to a spring season with dates to be determined. The board also approved optional training seasons.

Registration for these training seasons are now open and you must be registered in order to participate.  There is a $10 registration fee for these training session which will be deducted from the registration fee in the spring.  If you are not registered, you will not be allowed to participate and will be sent home.

**If you are participating in a fall sport, that sport is your priority if there is any crossover with practices and/or games.

September 24 and October 1:  3:30-5:00pm

Practices will be held at JHS unless there are weather related issues and in season fall sports are using this gym.  In that case practices will be at JMS and Coach Soine will notify you of the change.

Cheerleading Guidance and Information



The locker rooms will be available for fall athletes to use during the fall sports season.  They will be open from 8-8:30am and 3:00pm until practices are over.  Athletes are expected to bring all of their belongings home with them every evening.  Locks will be provided by the school, no personal locks are allowed.  There is a locker room waiver that must be signed by athletes before lockers can be used. Please see Krista Halvorson in the high school office for the waiver and to be assigned a locker.

Water Bottles

Athletes must bring their own water bottles to practices.

Sports Physicals
All students in 7-12 grade participating in sports or fine arts are required to have a qualifying physical exam on file with the school. If you do not have a physical, or it has expired (good for 3 years from date of exam), you will not be able to register for an activity. If you are unsure of your physical exam status, please contact Krista Halvorson at 952-492-4481 or with the full name and grade of the student. Qualifying Sports Physical Form – Please bring this form to your physical exam for the doctor to fill out.
***CHANGE for 20-21***The MSHSL Board of Directors Executive Committee approved the extension of the expiration date of the Three-Year Physical Clearance.*A student with a three-year clearance that expires at any time from March 12, 2020 through the conclusion of the 2020-2021 school year will have the clearance extended through the completion of the 2020-2021 school year.*Each student must still complete the annual health history questionnaire.*Any student who had not previously participated and who does not have medical clearance to participate will be required to have a physical and be cleared to participate.
