Multiple Teams · Madi Kes Named Athena Award Winner

2020 was supposed to be the the first time ever for Jordan HS being involved in the Minneapolis Athena Award Banquet. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, the banquet was canceled.  Jordan had been on the waiting list for a little over two years.

Back in February, the Athena award committee voted Madi Kes as the winner of this award, which is now serving double duty for “Outstanding Senior Female Athlete Award” on Jordan awards night as well.

On May 21st, we surprised  Madi with her own personal award ceremony! Athena banquet emcee and Jordan alumni Ali Cronk (Radermacher) was on hand sporting her Jordan letter jacket. Ali is also the PA announcer for state gymnastics and state volleyball.

Some of the highlights of the ceremony in the Kes’ front yard included sharing videos from last year’s banquet, explaining the process of the ceremony, handing Madi her plaque, and going through what her part of the ceremony would have sounded like on stage.
AD Joe Perkl collaborated with Cronk on this surprise ceremony. “This was extremely fun for me as the Activities Director. I had the privilege of watching Madi compete for most of her high school career. With her shy demeanor, she definitely let her game do the talking” said Perkl.
